Thomas E. Morrison, PhD
Associate Professor of Immunology and Microbiology and the Director of the Graduate Program in Microbiology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
Thomas E. “Tem” Morrison received his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology, and his post-doctoral training in viral pathogenesis, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is currently an Associate Professor of Immunology and Microbiology and the Director of the Graduate Program in Microbiology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dr. Morrison studies the molecular pathogenesis of arthropod-transmitted viruses and protozoan parasites. The work in his laboratory aims to enhance an understanding of mechanisms of activation and resolution of pathogen-induced inflammatory responses, immunological mechanisms that control pathogen clearance versus pathogen persistence, and pathogen-encoded genetic determinants that counteract host anti-pathogen immune responses. In addition, the Morrison laboratory seeks to leverage this knowledge to inform the development of vaccines and therapeutics against arthropod-transmitted diseases of public health importance.
